Angin...How To Get Rid

I guess having spent the day under the hot sunny day on Amri & Ain's wedding left me deeply dehydrated. Having played football on the evening and futsal at night, and having eaten only just half plate of dinner coupled with late night sleep on the same day finally had taken its toll. Whole body ache, fever coupled with angin that makes me nauseated and dizziness really put me off for 2 days. Well, its a high time to get some rest.

So for anyone experiencing headache, dizziness, bloated, nauseated cause by angin or excess gas in the tummy, heres several option for you.

1. Simethicone
This is actually a mixture of poludimethylsiloxane and silica gel. Its an oral anti-foaming agent that used for bloating and pain cause by excess gas in the tummy. Like any other anti-foaming agent, it causes the air bubbles surface tension to reduce, thus making them easier to merge with other small air bubbles to become a larger bubbles. This larger air bubbles can be expelled easier by burping action.

Theres several brands in the market, the most Ive seen in local pharmacy is Maalox Max. Nrmally it is combined with other antacid medication to produce a general medication for gastric discomfort like Actal.

2. Activated Charcoal
Activated charcoal has great deal of adsorption power. Adsorption and not absorption. Adsorption means a process when a solute accumulates on the surface of the adsorbent and absorption means substance diffuses into a liquid or solid to form a solution. In this case, activated charcoal is an adsorbent. Its basically a charcoal or arang. It gets treated to become activated and once its activated, it has a very high adsorbing power. Due to this properties, it has many application. Its used in water filter, its used as deodorizer and in medicine, its used as toxin and gas adsorbent.

In this case, it works by adsorbing gasses in ur tummy. Just like when you are having diarrhea, it adsorps all those toxins that irritate your tummy. Several brands in the market, the most famous is UltraCarbon.

3. Garlic
For me, this is the best of all. Its cheap, its readily available in your mom's kitchen and its effective! Its a trully nature's wonder, this garlic is. Although it is more well known for its anti-bacterial activity, good for heart disease patient (Atherosclerosis, hypertension, dyslipidemia) and even cancer, I feel that garlic for removing excess gas is underrated. Its trully effective for me! So next time if you experiencing the same problem as I have, why not go to your kitchen and search for it.

Wedding of The Year

It has been a busy yet a worthwhile week. To spend straight 7 days with 2 of my good friends that I rarely see (once a year, once in 2 years) is great, but to be involve in the wedding preparation is even better.

Congratulations to both Amri and Ain. It was THE wedding of the year! It was a garden/lakeside wedding. The venue, the people, the bride and groom, and the ceromony were excellent! Its just a beautiful perfect wedding. Alhamdulillah.

Let these pictures do the talking. (Click on the picture for larger viewing)

Lightning BOLT!!

This is what Olympic is all about!! (or at least, for me)

100m men events rocks the roof out of the bird's nest stadium! Even before the final, the hype was not dissapointing. 7 of 8 finalist qualify with below 10 seconds!! and the odd one out qualify at 10.00 seconds! which is also quite impressive.

The final was electrifying, thanks to the Lightning Bolt. Even the mighty 3 time world record holder, Asafa Powell cant match the lightning pace of Usain Bolt. His blistering pace gave him the world new record time at 9.69 seconds!! And not only that. He literally cruised towards the end of the 100m sprint!! how cool was that?

Ahh.. the Olympics. Lets hope Chong Wei can give Malaysia its first gold medal! :D

Transformers!

I absolutely love Transformers. Be it the cartoon, the movie or the action figure. I dont have to tell you how cool they are right? Great looking car/jets/trucks? check. Awesome looking robots? check. Fantastic engineering feat in transforming? check.

Ive started my action figure fetish when I was in primary school. I had Optimus Prime, Sideswipes, Jazz, and all 6 Constructicons which can combine to form 1 big robot, Devastator. I remember playing them with Azry and sometimes exchange robots for weeks.

I thought playing with those robots is just a phase in my childhood life, like any other child.
Turned out I was wrong. The recent Transformers movie has bring out the inner child of me. Hasbro played a big part too. Their latest robots are soo beautiful yet soo complicated. I was amazed on the the mechanics and the engineering aspects of the robots transforming into their vehicle mode. At first, my intention was only to get Bumblebee, but one thing lead to another, I ended up with Bumblebee plus Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Brawl, Barricade, Blackout and Megatron. haha. They are seductive!

And so this is what I did with my excess free time today. Enjoy.

ANC, the one that got away

Last Wednesday was the last Majlis Anugerah Dekan for me. Finally the thought of my student life is over starts to kick in. I never thought the day would come. 7 long years it has been.

Majlis Anugerah Dekan reminds me of my tale of near miss. Back in Diploma days, I missed my Anugerah Naib Cansellor (ANC) by only 0.01 GPA, back in the 4th semester. ANC are awarded to those who scored 3.5 GPA on ALL SEMESTER throughout your diploma or degree program. Oh it would have been sweet in my resume if I did. That was the only award that we targeted as there were no such things as first class or second class upper for Diploma. Well, it was like a splinter in my flesh because Diploma provides the most realistic chance of getting it.

Degree, as expected was much harder to achieve ANC. In fact, no one has been able to make the cut. I missed out on 2 occasions out of the 8 semester. sigh.

I managed to get cGPA of 3.62 for both Diploma and Degree. And for the overall count, I managed to score above 3.5 GPA on 10 occasions out of 13. Though my dream of having to wear the ANC thingie on my convocation will always be a splinter in my flesh, it will be forgotten when this time around, I could enjoy the moment of having be on the first class honours list! and even sweeter, I can escape my RM28k loan repayment to PTPTN!! woohooooo!! SWEET!
